Hello, I'm Christina Corcoran

I'm thrilled you're here.
I am currently a stay at home mother of two, while also working on my first nonfiction book about parenting and perfectionism. It has been a challenging endeavor, thanks to my own tendencies to overly self edit, self doubt, and procrastinate. BUT the experience has actually helped me grow. I'm learning and practicing while writing for others. The more aware we are of our negative habits, the better we can manage them.
My biggest passion has been in the genre of memoir writing, which pairs well with this project. There's a beautiful balance in my writing between fact-sharing and soul-searching, but also humor.
Too often I get caught up in wearing the "mommy hat" that makes me feel like I have to get it all right and keep everything in check. I keep reminding myself I don't have to do this perfectly (nor can I ... newsflash: non of us can). My kids are happiest when I let go and make room for more laughter. The same goes for my writing. Impostor syndrome creeps in and turns my fun and relatable voice into an academic and journalistic one. If you are ready for honesty and vulnerability, let's do this! Think, science sprinkled with humor.
Perfectionism is often misunderstood and untreated in adults, but certainly in early childhood. My hope is to provide parents with a better understanding of this trait and help children live with less pressure and self-doubt.
Yours truly,
Christina Corcoran
